EFA Diary

The EFA's Diary for 2024

Members' events

Events for Association members this year are:

  • Combined Induction Day and Tactics Day
  • New members are shown access points, parking and some fishing spots and the club's rules are explained
  • Designed to show new members and older members who are interested, how those who are successful fish the river, both with spinner and fly
  • There is usually an informal lunch afterwards at the Bottom Horseshoe (ie the Horseshoe in Egton Bridge), if people wish
  • Meet 09:30 on Saturday 18th May at Beggar’s Bridge
  • Mike Howard is organising
  • Please bring wellies and waterproofs
  • Bring your kit if you want to fish afterwards - we have moved the date to later in the year than normal in the hope that there might be fish in the system and combined what is often 2 days as there are few new members
  • Work parties
  • The committee has decided that we need to do some work as the estates are not doing “fisher-person-like work” well enough – cutting back branches, access in places. We agreed not to do any chainsaw work.
  • Mike Howard has agreed to coordinate the parties.
  • We will meet at Beggar’s Bridge at 09:30 on each of:
  • Saturday 2nd March,
  • Saturday 1st June and
  • Saturday 3rd August
  • PLEASE PUT THE DATES IN YOUR DIARY if you are fit enough and bring your own kit (but no chainsaws).
  • AGM - the timings are designed to allow members to fish before or after the AGM and lunch is available after the meeting to allow members to socialise.  The agenda for the meeting itself will be circulated nearer the time.  Details are:
  • Noon on Saturday 26th October at Egton Village Hall
  • Rex Parry organising

Young Anglers' events

As part of our commitment to the next generation of young fishers, we work with Egton and Grosmont Estates and the North York Moors National Park to deliver an annual fishing course to local youngsters.  This year's programme is still in the making but we plan to bring you details shortly.
